what is this? i opened up my autoload and logic gave away the following message 'updating tree, please wait...'

Try to uncheck the "Load project manager" preference?

thread, and so i did. i unchecked it, quit logic, launched it again and re-checked it. it haven't popped up...yet...

 

i just installed a 1Gig RAM chip from a Macbook Pro on my black Macbook. d'you think that can have something to do with my tree-update appearing?? i am asking this since bad hardware can provoke this message from logic.

I don't think it has anything to do with your RAM. I think it has something to do with the project manager. If you're not using the PM, I recommend leaving that preference unchecked, and deleting ~/Library/Preferences/Logic/PMdata
