Tabbed main window to have multiple projects open

It would be handy to be able to have multiple projects open and easily switch between these projects.

The tabs should be in the main tracks window.

When switching to another project and with multiple additional windows open (mixer/piano roll/score) all these windows should either

- disappear if the next selected project has a different window and scree set layouts

- or update to the windows layout of the next selected project

That way the user doesn't accidentally loads a project while clicking on an open floating or environment window.

I would love to be able to have multiple projects open.

Logic has a long way to go regarding this aspect.

True Eric but thanks to some great examples on the market nowadays it's easy for them to analyze.

Now that the coming Mac OS 10.12 will natively allow tabs for any Mac app via its API it should definitely be considered.

Here is an example how it is implemented into macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

Tabs everywhere

Many years ago, browser makers warmed us up to the idea of tabs. In 2013, macOS Mavericks brought tabs to the Finder to make managing files a less overwhelming task. And now, macOS Sierra brings tabs to almost any app, first or third-party.

Most document-based apps like Pages, Mail, TextEdit, Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop and others can now create tabbed environments. Working with multiple document windows within the same app can be a pain so this feature definitely elevates your productivity and efficiency and reduces desktop clutter.

With tabs in Maps, for instance, you can browse multiple locations without losing your place. In another example, the user pastes content between Pages documents in full screen. With tabs, jumping between multiple email drafts in Mail is as easy as switching to another tab.

Those are all great features. What I'm saying is that Logic needs a robust way of handling several open projects at once first and foremost.

There are for example issues with EXS24 settings and Environment windows that can corrupt one of your projects if you don't watch out.

Very true!
