mattymatt
Hello, Yet another thing I would like to understand. I recently noticed that when saving a project, the .logicx extension is visible and the option to hide it seems to be gone as shown on the screen shot. After reinstalling Logic the extension disappears but after some time it reappears again. I understand that it's always there but I want it hidden at all times and this option doesn't seem to show on any of my Mojave driven machines, the High Sierra one still has it. Same Logic version. Any ideas here? Thank you.
Solution volovicg Posted December 15, 2018 Solution Share Posted December 15, 2018 click on this icon in the save dialogue and at the bottom enable -> Hide Extensions...
mattymatt
Thank you, I feel embarrassed. Completely ignored the idea that this could be a system wide setting, not one dependent on Logic Pro.
anp27
and at the bottom enable -> Hide Extensions... THANKS! This was driving me slightly crazy for the past few months and I've only finally gotten around to addressing the problem!

Alan Shields
Thank you Volovicg, this is one of those things that had me irked for a while, just not irked enough to post about. Alan.

andyscott
Add another one to the idiot party! I think I might win the prize, though. It's been about a year I've been simply erasing the extension with a vague thought that I need to address the issue. Twenty seconds on Google and here it be. Jangus
Perhaps a dumb question but, when/why would we want to save a project without the extension attached ? So you could open it in another Daw? Any specific examples ? Just curious. Thanks

Alan Shields
Yes, it's a 'keep things looking uncluttered' thing. Alan.
asaraha
when/why would we want to save a project without the extension attached ? Tidiness. But also, when I'm looking through files, they are much easier to read (and pick through) if they don't have that loooong ".logicx" extension. My finder windows are only so big... ☺️
Chris Blackwell
Thanks for this info, been meaning to figure this out for a while but it was always just a slightly annoying part of the work flow so I never got round to it. All looks neat and tidy again now ... many thanks!
