I hope Logic could catch up at NAMM!

MIDI FX which sits before the sequencer would be most welcome. i.e. so if you're using an arp it records the arp as midi notes

I'm pretty sure you can do this now, cable out from the instrument in the Mixer and feed that to the sequencer input.

You can't. MIDI-FX only get processed inside that Channel Strip, they don't appear at its Environment output. So the only way currently is to use the External Instrument plugin and loop through IAC from there.

Auto-coloration of tracks already exists

Unless I've missed something recent, Logic only auto-colorizes multiple takes on the same track (i.e. quick swipe comping). Not auto colorization of new tracks of any kind, as in Pro Tools (one of the few things I like about PT).

click "color" and set to "auto progress"

as far as midi after MIDI FX goes:

i found this useful:

gotta check backups for the component-

oh.. the "record into track" thing

Yes. To record the processed MIDI events, you' need the Environment to patch them into the Sequencer In. However, MIDI-FX including Scripter are playback processors, between track and Virtual Instrument, and thus can't be recorded other than replacing that Virtual Instrument by the External Instrument to reach IAC and then Physical In.
