cinningbao
I foolishly let a client use Logic while I went for break, and they had added a MIDI track listening to the studio MIDI keyboard (not connected to any internal instrument so it was silent..) The track in question was deleted during the session so I thought it would be fine, but when I open the project Logic always complains that device is not connected anymore, even though (and I scoured the MIDI Environment to make sure) there are definitely no tracks using it as an input. I've also noticed that my home computer (which has never been anywhere near the studio MIDI keyboard) now shows me that MIDI keyboard as an option in the new External MIDI track dropdown, which I find odd. How do I delete this erroneous device from this project?
des99
Did it install a control surface? Set the Control Surface Setup window, and if the keyboard is listed there, delete it.
David Nahmani
It would help if you can share the exact text of the alert, otherwise we're just guessing. But my guess is that there's an object using a port that no longer exists? If that's the case, choose Window > Open MIDI Environment, go through the various layers (especially MIDI Instr.) and look for the object that has the name Logic gives you in the alert. Delete that object, and save the project again.
cinningbao
that's the message, there is only one device in the Control Surface setup window and it is my iPhone I've been through all the Instrument layers and cannot find anything named anything like the CASIO USB-MIDI it is complaining about
facej
Is the Casio USB MIDI driver installed on your system? It's an evil, foul thing
David Nahmani
that's the message Exactly as I guessed then. Try following the instructions in my last reply to resolve this. Let me know if any of it is unclear? Basically you want to open the MIDI Environment, look for an instrument named "CASIO USB-MIDI", select it, press delete, then save your project. cinningbao
Well, no not quite David. Like I said, I looked at the MIDI Environment and there are no objects named 'CASIO USB-MIDI', so as much as you were expecting there to be one there, there isn't. Any other ideas? Solution David Nahmani Posted October 21, 2020 Solution Share Posted October 21, 2020 Well, no not quite David. Like I said, I looked at the MIDI Environment and there are no objects named 'CASIO USB-MIDI', so as much as you were expecting there to be one there, there isn't. The only way that alert you're seeing can be triggered is if there is. You have to look in the MIDI Instr. layer as I explained earlier. fuzzfilth
Also, scroll right and down in any Layer. Sometimes the little buggers hide down there. Rule: If you can scroll, there is something to scroll to.
cinningbao
Oh yes, I'm a scroller if I see a scroll bar.. thanks David, yeah, I assumed that window would open showing All Objects.. but it doesn't! Shame we can't reorder by name or something when viewing in text mode.

cinningbao
i'm also an 'experienced' software guy (20+ years , but i left the world of technical stuff a few years ago to pursue a career in the music industry so I guess I left a few basic principles in the back office which I probably should keep hold of Noted! I think if you submit a feature request to Apple for any new feature in the Environment, you officially get a reply with a random animated gif of someone laughing hysterically...
