JamesK
I jus learned that if you have the on/off button showing and hold option then click it will disable the plugins which is fantastic but the problem is it also will disable play back of that track. Other than swiping down on the plugins to disable them is there a key command I'm missing that will disable/enable plugins without disabling playback of the output on the track? des99
The track on/off button is turn turn the track off or on. If you want the track to be ON but the plugins to be OFF, you need to bypass the plugins, not turn the track off.
David Nahmani
Other than swiping down on the plugins to disable them is there a key command I'm missing that will disable/enable plugins without disabling playback of the output on the track? Yes, you can click the Settings button at the top of the channel strip and in the pop-up menu, choose Bypass All Effect Plug-ins. Or you can choose Logic Pro X > Key Commands > Edit and search for "Bypass All Effect Plug-ins", select it, click Learn by Key Label and assign it to a key command. JamesK
Looks like that was introduced in 10.5? I'm unfortunately still on 10.4.8 as my old 2011 iMac can't go higher than High Sierra Going to look into a new iMac soon!
David Nahmani
Ah yes sorry that’s a new key command in 10.5!
facej
A note on "Bypass all plugins" - Assume some, but not all plugins are "on". A simple "Undo" will restore all of the plugins to the prior state, so you can toggle, well, as long as nothing else is done except listening, toggle the plugins on/off

robinloops
And if you plan to make other changes before you toggle back, a screen shot can be helpful.
facej
yes - screenshots - just like taking a picture of the gear in the rack, or the console itself. Every time I do live recordings I take a picture of the mixers (before AND after) for each set. Sometimes the band will twiddle a knob or two
