dougt
Considering a M1 Mac mini or MacBook Pro. How big of a hard drive do I actually need for music with an external SSD?
dougt
Should have mentioned using Logic Pro, NI, Arturia analog lab and a few other apps. I plan to store the bigger sounds on an external drive.
Nunstummy
I’m using a 1TB SSD on my 2014 MacBook Pro and I have a lot of software loaded, a lot of VSTs and plugins and approx 200gb of samples, loops and beats. It’s all working great! I have a few USB external drives for back-ups, and for storing old video projects and I could move old Logic projects as well, but I still seem to have 175 - 200gb free. I have a 1TB dropbox account I use to share files with collaborators and customers.
MikeRobinson
There are usually two USB-C external hard drives connected to my laptop at all times. One is the Time Machine backup drive, and the other holds photos, Logic libraries, and other things which the internal [semiconductor ...] "hard drive" isn't big enough to deal with.
