wing
I often like to duplicate audio tracks when I want to have it immediately below another track, or to obviously have similar settings. However when I drag a region from the file browser (drum loops for example) I have to manually re-select the track and enter the key command for "Name Track by Region/Cell name". Which is fine but it's an extra step for something I do all the time. I can obviously see the reason you would not want to rename the track when dragging a region but in my case, I was wondering if there is a preference setting somewhere to make renaming automatically the default behavior? David Nahmani
I don't think that's possible, you just have to get used to using that key command all the time (that's what I do).

ansolas
Is it the other way around possible? Name new Region after Track name? That woudl be usefull when creating AppleLoops sice we no longer have to manually name the Region 🙂 Default seams to be 'MIDI Region'

Creating a new empty MIDI region does not do that. Edited May 25, 2023 by polanoid

polanoid
Still wondering why they aren't named after the track by default. The name "MIDI Region" doesn't contain much useful information 😉

Symphonichrome
Reviving this topic as I just watched the below video (cued up to the relevant portion) and the regions he drags from one track to another are automatically renamed -- apparently, this was possible years ago when this video was made but, the question remains...how? ravez
he is selecting all regions and updating the names and colors of the regions to match the respective tracks with key commands, he is also saying "fixing the colors and names" while doing that

When he says "fix up my color, and my names", he's hitting the Option + Shift + C, then Option + Shift + N.
damusicman29
It's so weird that I came to this thread while working tonight and seeing that you guys had this re-surface haha. Yeah, I've always just used the key command to rename everything, but since I'm in a massive project atm, I figured I'd see if there were any updates to this (or at least LPX adding a feature)... I see that's not the case unfortunately! Haha, happy producing friends!
