Selecting Multiple Automation Nodes

Is there a way to select specific automation nodes and not others? For example, say you want to increase the peaks of an effect without touching the valleys. Can I just select the highest nodes and increase those only? Or additionally is there a way to increase polarity in automation. For example say you have a track that has the pan automated but you want to increase the amount on each side. Is there a fast way to do this without going in and dragging each node?

Thanks!

Bryan

Thanks, marcperi,

That was not quite what I was looking for but I figured out a way to do what I was thinking. You have to use shift+drag then AFTER you have dragged it out a bit, you press option then it turns into a more fine detail box instead of selecting every node horizontally.  However, the annoying part is you cannot just press option click then drag the fine detail box... this box adds nodes instead of selecting automation. Maybe this is a setting that can be changed? If anyone knows let me know!
