Ancient Microphone Technique

There's this 'Old Telefunken Mic' sound that makes you say 'this a classic right there'. How can i recreate this effect on a vocal recorded with modern gear? Certainly there's some High Cut going on but other than that, I couldn't spot the processing technique.

Hey I heard about Impulse Response thing but i sn't that for Reverberation? Space Designer got such setting. How do you set it up? What's the file source?

It's not limited to reverbs, you can use impulse responses to model the response of a guitar amp, a guitar cab, a microphone, etc...

So i downloaded some across the web. But they're all 1 second audio files with just a click sound. What's the next step to model these onto my vocal?

For some reason I've got low hopes that this will work.

You will need an "IR loader" and the "IR file" of choice. Logic has a native loader built in, so it's free. Google will give you a list of possible IR files. Works a treat. Don't despair, do some research...hth.../s~

I understand that 3rd party IRs can be loaded into Space Designer. Can SD then be placed in a channel strip with the IR processing the audio without a reverb being applied?

Yup, that should do it! There are several IR loaders available for free if SD is not what you want. Same thing for finding/acquiring IR files.../s~

Yes, Impulse responses of microphones, cabs etc... are basically just one click sound, however it contains various frequencies, which is what makes it unique. 

To use that IR with your vocal: 

1. Insert Reverb > Space Designer onto your vocal track. 
2. Click the IR Sample pop-up menu and choose "Load IR & Init":
   
   
   
   That's it! You should now see the name of the IR you're using in the IR Sample pop-up menu:

No you can use it with any IR, a mic, cabinet, guitar amp etc..
