Might've figured it out. In my case, I was trying to edit multiple stems (in a Group) at once. Apparently if one region is accidentally (or intentionally) set to loop, all split regions will loop? As soon as I turned off the one region set to loop in the upper let hand region box, the problem for all went away.

It's more likely that you have the "Loop" checkbox in the defaults settings, which show up in the region inspector when no regions are selected. Select a software instrument track for the MIDI Defaults and select an audio track for the Audio defaults:

Make sure both have "Loop" unchecked.

From now on you should be able to split regions without them looping.

This worked for me! Just went through each track and found one where Loop was accidentally turned on. Turned it off, and now that issue isnt happening anymore. Thanks for solving!!

Thanks for confirming it worked! Stashing this fix in my Logic notes.
