searching Bösendorfer leads to mixed results

Your goal is to add Bösendofer piano to one of your tracks in you project. You dont recall where Apple located this sound. Steps that lead to issue:

1. launch Logic Pro v10.7.8

2. add a software instrument

3. click on Apple loops

4. type in "Bösendorfer" or "Bosendorfer" in the Apple Loops search field

5. no results

6. use any Mac search app to find either string in a filename anywhere on your Mac or external drives - ie, do you have this sound at all? 

7. You have Bösendorfer named files on board on external disk (.caf files). These were part of "Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro" when you had FCS 6 - back in the day

8. drag all these .caf files into Apple Loop browser

9. wait ten minutes for indexing to finish, then attempt to search - leads to nothing found

10. note that "80s Craze bass" is found, it too is a .caf file... and the externally based Bösendorfer .caf files play if previewed. String searches like "acid" and "amped" work fine, Apple Loops seems to be working normally

11. how to get Apple Loops to recognize files on an external drive?

This is the wrong place if you're looking for an instrument to play (unless you really trying to add a canned piano loop to your arrangement, although loops don't generally contain instrument names, they are usually more "stylisticly" named based on their musical content).

You're going straight to a filesystem search app? Why not search in Logic's Library browser, which is what this is for - searching for the sound/instruments/patches, rather than the loop content.

(Most search tools, including Spotlight, won't search system locations on your Mac, so will miss any content here.)

I tried that early in the search as well, not found on my setup

You currently have the Library browser focused on "Sampler" (that's what the blue triangle does), meaning that you are limiting your search to Sampler instruments only, not Logic Patches, or other content.

Click to focus on the "Setting" instead, to search Patches.

(The Bosendorfer sampler instrument you see here when I'm focused on Sampler is a different, third-party instrument, not Logic factory content).
