Dox
Will Apple ever make Safari Web MIDI API compatible. If not why not?
Jordi Torres
Hi Dox, Difficult to answer the first question. But according to this article it's because of privacy concerns. There's a saying that's become quite common in the Web development community: Safari is the new IE 😬 J.

des99
On the plus side, I have just now invented "MIDIcoin", which is blockchain currency using the MIDI protocol standard*. Extra feature - each transaction takes approximately 2.4 years to complete at the MIDI baud rate, which has a nice side-effect of keeping inflation pretty stable for the long term... (It'll be part of the MIDI 3.0 spec in roughly 36 years time). (Also, 7-bit only, so nothing more expensive than £127 can be bought. Everything becomes affordable!) What is an IE? I have to use another browser, Google Chrome, to run Hooktheory and the Editor for my Nektar Pacer. Does this pose a risk to the security of my iMac? 17 hours ago, des99 said: Can't have nasty MIDI hackers stealing all my F0's..! What is an FO? It's a MIDI Status byte; specifically "Start of SysEx message".
Dox
Thanks Gacki, I did indeed have Internet Explorer on my first Apple Macintosh IIci. I didn't know that the abbreviation was still common usage. Is Safari seen as limited because of its extreme security? How and why would hackers steal a MIDI Status byte? des99
Yep, just some light hearted joking/banter. Don't worry, I'm sure your F0's are safe from unscrupulous types! 😉👍 Edited June 30, 2023 by des99
gacki
I still have some vintage F0's, barely used, from my SoundDiver days.

I think it's more along the lines that it does things slightly different compared to other browsers.

We should NFT some of them - this time next year* we'll be millionaires! * Or 2025, if paid for using MIDIcoin.

I had a huge hassle a couple of years ago from using Google Chrome which placed Shopify into all my browser search results. But I suppose you think that makes me paranoid.
