From that page:

"To show track alternatives on all tracks, choose Track > Show Track Alternatives. You can also Control-click a track header and choose Track Header Components > Track Alternatives.

The Track Alternatives button  appears next to the name of each track in the track header. After you've created some alternatives, they remain visible regardless of the Show/Hide Track Alternatives setting."

Thank you,  though why do they remain visible?  odd!

Because you've created track alternatives for those tracks, and likely when the devs were implementing this they decided that if tracks have alternatives, some visual indicator of this is better than hiding that info.

If you don't want alternatives, delete all the inactive alternatives (also described on that page), and Logic will no longer show those alternates menus on those tracks.

You're probably accidentally hitting some key commands to create track alternatives which is why they are showing up.
