MikeyB
Just trying to speed up workflow. I use the marquee tool to select the parts I want to reset panning to 0, then drag them there. As I primarily use pan automation to reset bits I don't want panned, It would be useful it there was a key command or some way of setting selected automation points to 0. Does anyone know of a way? Solution Jordi Torres Posted August 31, 2023 Solution Share Posted August 31, 2023 (edited) Hi Mikey, I don't think there's a key command for that, but you could: Select the automation points you want to reset Open the Track Automation Event List (usually Ctrl + Cmd + E) Double-click a value in the Val column Hold down Shift + Option, Type 64 (64 = panned dead center) Press Enter (or Return) J. MikeyB
Thanks for the reply. This seems like a great work around. I think this is just what I need 🙂

ravez
You can actually make this a one button solution using MIDI transforms and giving it a key command You can start by opening the MIDI transform window (cmd+9) Then choose "Fixed Velocity" preset (to avoid starting from scratch) Then change Status from = Note to = Fader and Fix 100 to Fix 64 Then give it a name and save it as a preset As you can see that is my 3rd user preset, so now i can turn that into a key command It should be pretty straight forward, I made others to increase/decrease automation points by 1 as well
MikeyB
This is great! I'm guessing this only works for midi though and not track automation?

The MIDI Transform window works for both. Track automation is "Fader" events as seen in both @ravez' and my screenshot. J.
ravez
as far as i know the MIDI Transform only works on events found on a selected MIDI region, so it won't work on track automation. But you can use a key command to move visible track automation to region automation Then use your MIDI Transforms on the selected region and move the automation back to track If you want to stay in track automation and you are not trying to edit a FaderM (MIDI Fader) value, then you can use another key command "Nudge Automation up/down"
Jordi Torres
3 hours ago, ravez said: as far as i know the MIDI Transform only works on events found on a selected MIDI region, so it won't work on track automation Well, it works on selected regions (not necessarily MIDI regions). This includes "automation regions" (can't recall if that's their official name). These are the regions that represent track automation when you open a new Main Window while the Track Automation Event List is open. And here's the regions that are selected for what you see in the above GIF to work: EDIT: But it's also possible to simply open the Track Automation Event List, go up one level to select the Automation region that contains the data, then run the Transform: J. ravez
Oh interesting! I guess it is a naming thing, cause i just tried what you did but without creating any midi regions at all, and as you can see it still calls it a MIDI region in the MIDI transform window. And you are right, it works indeed when selecting the Track Automation Root Folder via Track Automation Event List Nice workaround!
