taylorlipari
Hi there, the folks at Apple unfortunately changed the behavior of the pencil tool while doing stepped editing. In 10.7.7 and earlier it was great, I could use this to create stutters or hard outs to a grid. In 10.7.8 their "fix" in the release notes was the following: "When inserting stepped automation points with the Pencil tool, the inserted value is now retained until the next automation point in the lane." In the latest 10.7.9 release they have not fixed this. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? I understand some may prefer the way it behaves now, it just isn't best for me. Thanks, Taylor

David Nahmani
Hi Taylor, and welcome to Logic Pro Help ! Unfortunately I believe that it's just the way they've changed it, as this is the behavior many (most?) users want. All I can think of would be to request of Apple that they make this behavior switchable with a preference: https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro/ Meanwhile, a workaround: select the section you want to turn down with the Marquee tool, and drag it down with the pointer tool. On the plus side, that workflow doesn't require straying from the default toolset (Pointer = left-click, Marquee = Command-click).
taylorlipari
Thanks! Dang, marquee tool for the win - totally didn't think of this. This works perfectly, thanks again for your help! I sent off the request so hopefully it becomes an option in the future.
