How to get such note transitons and sounds?

Hi everyone! I had difficulty to get similar results after trying a couple times.

1. How do you get such soft sub bass note transitions, like in here? 00:04 00:05

2. What instrument do you think was used as the bass line instrument here, and how to make it so upfront (almost lead like) in the song? 0:58

3. How to make such soft transtions in the bass line when going from one note to another?  1:07 1:08

I appreciate your feedback.

The function you are looking for is called "Portamento" or "Glide", depending on the synth.

It is the sliding from one note to another.

Not all synths can do it, and some will do it on ALL notes if it is switched on.

Some synths have the option of gliding only when played legato — when the notes overlap. (The Retro Synth for example also has a "mono" mode, where each new note will retrigger the synth.)

Try this:

Open the Retro Synth plugin,

select "Heavy Punch Bass" preset.

Set the "Autobend" to "Glide" and set it to about 300 ms.

under "Settings" (bottom right), set "Polyphony" to "Legato"

Now the synth will not glide when you play individual notes, but it will when you play a new note before releasing the previous one.

You could try "Classic Analog Bass" as well, but there, you have to set Glide to affect "All Oscillators".
