Uh Oh--Weird Message after setting up my new computer

So I bought a Mac mini M2 pro and migrated my stuff last night. Things seem to be going ok, but I did all of this because Logic (I have two versions for some reason, one called Logic Pro X and one called Logic Pro X (original) had been acting very weird.

I tried to open it on the new computer and it told me to download Rosetta so I did--I'm very compliant when I don't have any information.

And after it verifies logic, I get this message for either version:

“Logic Pro X” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash."

I don't think that's a good idea, since both versions have 10 years work of mixes and files and bounces and so on. So now what?

Thank you as always.

Sounds like you have (multiple?) old versions of Logic, that are either Intel-only, or have been set to run under Rosetta.

If it's saying it's damaged, then it's Apple signature might be damaged. Did you download Logic from the App Store? This shouldn't happen.

In any case, you should run the App Store and download the current version for your machine, before you do anything else (you can backup your previous existing versions beforehand).

Thanks--I had migrated stuff but thought better of it and wiped the new Mac clean. Went to the Apple Store to download Logic and two things: They don't ask if I've already paid for it (which I have) so it looks like they are charging me $199, AND it says it needs OS13.5 or higher--this brand new Mac came with Ventura 13.4.

Not sure what to do next.

If you've bought it on your Apple ID, it will show in your account, and you won't have to buy it again. If Apple are trying to charge you, it means you don't have a purchase of LP 10 in your account. Did you purchase it on a different Apple ID?

You can update your Ventura to 13.5 easily enough, just run the update from the system settings update panel, it will take about 5-10 minutes...

Thanks--my Apple ID has changed multiple times since I first bought Logic almost 20 years ago. Not sure what to do about that.

You only need to go back 10-11 years with your Apple IDs to when Logic became Logic Pro X as you would have had to buy it.

I am certain I did buy it at that point. But I must be a completely different kind of person than people here. I’ve changed my Apple ID probably four or five times just in the last year – I bought a new phone, I was out of town and needed to get some thing from the App Store, it wouldn’t accept my ID for some reason so I created a new one. I’m sure it was user error, but I had so many passwords and IDs to set up with all of my technologies and iPads and phones and apps… I’m sure I’ve changed my password at least a dozen times.

so am I  just screwed and I have to spend $200 to download the exact same program. I mixed an album on last week?

BREAKING NEWS--I am a moron, although that might not seems like news to some of you. But I am still in trouble.

here is the deal--I have NEVER changed my Apple ID. It has been the same forever. I have, though, changed my password many times. I got confused.

Forgive me for sending you helpful people down the wrong rabbit hole. BUT...

The fact remains that I don't want to migrate my old version of Logic pro x (10.2.4) to my new Mac Mini because I have been having many problems with it--not to mention that when I tried last night, it said "The file is damaged, suggest you send it to the trash."  So I want to do a fresh install of Logic on the new computer.

But when I go to the app store on the new computer, it does not recognize me as a Logic owner. Instead it tells me I need to pay $199 for the exact program that I just finished mixing an album on not even a week ago.

That is my sad story. Now what?

If you can't manage to log into the App Store under your existing Apple ID, you probably need to contact Apple via the 1-800 number provided to you. (If that number is no good, contact Apple again and get a valid number.) Once you get all that sorted you might consider setting up a password manager. It has made my life easier.

If you log in the App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase Logic pro then you should see it listed in your purchases, so my guess is you're either not logged in or you're logged in with a different Apple ID.
