Lazy M Beats
Wondering if it's possible to split a MIDI note into equal subdivisions across it's length. would like to split into odd numbers like 5, 7 or 9 for instance to be able to start playing around with polymeters with elements like drums, kicks, hats, etc. Make a long MIDi note across a period of time, let's say a single beat, divide it into 5 equal notes, mute some to play around with rhythms and paterns. I found this concept through an abelton tip on IG which you can check out below: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0GXPHsu1fI/
oscwilde
You can choose the Cut (Scissors) tool and Option-click a note event to divide it into multiple shorter events. This is completely free-form, however, rather than specific mathematical divisions.....so if you take care, it could work. You could also use subsequent operations to make sure all newly divided/created events are the same length.
Lazy M Beats
Thanks for the reply! I figured this might be the only way to do it.
