musicman64
EXS24 has trouble finding its samples. Samples are on an internal, not the startup, disk in a Mac Pro (2010). How can I fix this? I tried with aliases, no avail.

musicman64
Thank you kindly Dan. I tried with a few sampler files and samples. Alas no luck.
des99
Can Spotlight find the files if you search in Finder? If Spotlight can't find them, then the EXS24 won't, as it used Spotlight to search for them, if it can't find the samples at the expected location stored in the instrument files. Make sure they are indexed in Spotlight, or move them to a more standard location if you're storing them elsewhere.
musicman64
Thanks kindly des99. I will try to figure this out and get back with the results.
musicman64
Thanks David for improving the title! I should give the following more complete information. Mac Pro from 2010 MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 (cannot go higher because of Virtual Guitarist) Logic Pro 10.4.4 Samples are stored on one of the 4 internal hard drives I tried on an iMac Pro (2017) following the instructions as to where to put instruments and samples given by Apple, and there Sampler finds the samples without a problem, but that is with Logic 10.5.1 in MacOS Mojave 10.14.6. And it worked both with everything stored on the internal hard drive and also with samples stored on an external drive.

musicman64
Hello again des99 and Dan. Fingers crossed, it seems to be working. I followed your suggestions and I think spotlight has done its job. Strangely I never saw it do anything, there was no notification anywhere that it was indexing. Thanks again for all your help!!
des99
You're welcome, glad it's working now! Spotlight indexing processes can be seen in Activity Monitor - you'll see processes like "MDSworker" (and others) beavering away while it's working.
