StevenMorton
Hi, I have latency that is so bad it's making it impossible to record bass parts. I have low latency recording mode selected, but it is still bad. Is there anything else I can do to remedy this problem?
oscwilde
Mac/MacOS version/Logic version/audio hardware being used? Can you provide an image of your Logic Audio settings?
StevenMorton
Here are the audio settings. The drums are also sometimes distorting and clipping when I solo them. Edited February 27 by StevenMorton
enossified
Use direct monitoring on the 2i2 and you'll have no latency. To use this, you must mute the output of the track you are recording to or you will hear echoes. You will not hear the effect of anything in the channel strip such as AMP Designer, EQ and other FX. As far as the drums are these actual drums being recorded with mikes or are you using software drums? What Mac and what Mac OS are you using?

The drums were the logic drummer software drums. My Mac is a Macbook Air M1 2020 and is running Ventura 13.6.4.
lorenzogc
I am also experiencing latency. I have a Scarlett 4i4 and can't record vocals. I don't see a direct monitoring button on my interface unfortunately. I'm not sure if it is some plugin on a different track that is causing this problem? This track has no plugins on it. Test.mp4

This is done in the Control 2 app for the 4i4 and other more advanced Scarlett I/Fs. https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360006972599-Direct-Monitoring-on-the-Scarlett-4i4-3rd-Gen
lorenzogc
Ok thank you for clarifying that. It was actually a plugin that I needed to update on a different track.
lorenzogc
The problem for me was coming from a side-chaining plugin called Kickstart 2. It did need updating but that didn't solve the problem. I'm using it as a AU MIDI-controlled Effect. It also has a notice that Anti-Click Smoothing adds 6ms of latency. When I turn that off the delay is still there. But when I remove the MIDI-controlled effect it goes away. 🤷♂️ I guess I'll just side-chain after I've finished my recording process. oscwilde
Thanks for letting us know. Logic's plug-in delay compensation/low latency mode automatically bypasses plug-ins that have high latencies....and bypasses side-chains.
