vxp
Hi, can someone help me, i'm a bit confused and don't know what to do. i'm using a Power Mac G4 Dual 1.25 GHz (Mirrored Drive Doors) with 2GB Ram and do got the chance to buy a second hand Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz with 2GB Ram. my question, which one is really faster at the end? my Power Mac G4 Dual 1.25 GHz (MDD) cuase it has 2x 1.25GHz, or the Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz? if the Power Mac G5 1.8 GHz is better and faster, will the difference be huge? i'm using my mac only for music producing with Logic Pro8 and some VST/VSTi's. also i have heard, that the second CPU on G4 Dual Mac's are a waste of money, cause the second processor remains tied behind the PowerMac's back. can someone confirm this? Hope someone can help me soon. thanks very much in advance!
syncsailor
I sure hope the g5 would be an improvement. I'm using logic8 on a g4 1.33 powerbook and it is down on its knees begging for mercy. hope to make the jump to an imac 2.8 in january. IO have the Imac you speak of, and it runs perfect - i used to have a dual G4 with logic 6 and it was nowhere near as quick as the G5 is now, and thats with logic 8. go for the imac - the model you are on about is a great machine
STILL
Just as a reference help, I have a Dual 1.8 G5, and Logic 8 runs fine on it, (Logic 7.2.3 ran better tho) but it is pretty gluey visually...... If it's me, I just go straight to an Intel machine of some sort, in your shoes...maybe an iMac or so.
