mits5k
I've got a stereo project that I used a couple of surround samples in. I know that when you add these samples to a stereo project, your master out is switched to surround, and thus you lose all your stereo plugins on the main stereo out strip. I've done this many times and fixed the problem many times by changing the new surround outputs back to stereo, at which point all the stereo plugins on the stereo out strip normally reappear. I know how to change the output on a track between mono, stereo, and surround. I know how to change the input on a track. I know how to see from the look of the panning wheel what tracks are in mono (or balance) mode, which are in stereo, and which are in surround. Believe me when I say that there are no tracks currently set to surround. I have gone through everything on my transport a hundred goddamned times. I've shown hidden tracks in case there were hidden surround tracks (there aren't). I have deleted the original offending surround samples from the project after bouncing them in place as stereo tracks. I have also deleted the surround samples from the bin, so the project file shouldn't even have any notion of those tracks left in it. Nothing has fixed it, and I feel like I'm losing my mind. All of the help requests I've seen on the topic are issues I know how to solve by the above steps– I can't find anybody who's done all that and STILL can't un-f*%@ the problem. Any help here would be enormously appreciated.
polanoid
Can you share the project (without any audio files) somewhere so people on the forum can have a look?

I haven't shared a project in that manner before. Do you mean to upload the Logic file where it's accessible without including the audio files folder? polanoid
Yes (like, via Google Drive for instance). And zip it first (saves a lot of bandwidth and ensures everything is transferred)

polanoid
Hm that doesn't look very surround here - maybe because I'm on a Macbook with built-in (stereo) audio only at the moment? In that case, can someone else check this?
mits5k
Wait, why can you see the plugins on my stereo out and I can't? Edited April 10 by mits5k

What you're looking at is what I'd expect to see after solving the surround problem, but for me, the stereo out remains inaccessible in that I don't have the option of adding plugins to it:
des99
Your output is stereo in that project. All the stereo plugins are visible on the output. I see the same as @polanoid What version of Logic are you running?

des99
I tried in 10.4.8. Still stereo here, with visible mix bus plugins...

Wtffffffffff Other project files open just fine. It's only this one project that's f*ed up, so it doesn't seem like it could be a Logic-wide settings issue on my iMac. There's no reason this would work, but there's also no reason I should be having this problem. Can you save the project file as a copy, rename it, and send it back to me? des99
Try clicking on the format button at the top of your stereo channel, toggling it to mono, then back to stereo...

I went to do that after quitting out of Logic, and when I opened the project back up it was already fixed. I had quit out and reopened the project file tons of times since the problem began. What changed? Who the hell knows. God I need a new computer. Anyhow, thanks for the help, @polanoid and @des99. Looks like this one is simply chalked up to gremlins.

I think the universe is just funny like that... 😉 1,000%. Every time I have a question about something at work, for instance, I'll always root around for a solution for ages, and the **MOMENT** I ask somebody for the solution, I stumble upon it before they even respond and then promptly feel like an idiot. This one, however, was magic-in and magic-out. What caused the problem? Magic. What solved it? Magic. 😂
