Spinidge
Do most of you run your DAW on a dedicated machine i.e. this is the only thing you use your computer for? I only have one computer so I use it for both my home studio and other things like surfing the net. I've spoken to some people who advise against this. Wanted to see how most of your are running things. Thanks, Spinidge
dkgross
For sanity sake, I prefer to have nothing extranious on my production machine..but, the reality is that is fiscally hard for a lot of people. If everything is on one machine, just be very aware of what you're putting on your mac.
Subtonic
I only have one machine for everything too. BUT, if Apple announces a really inexpensive portable Mac next week at Macworld I'm totally on it and dedicating my Powermac G5 to Music Production. I don't run into a lot of problems with software conflicts or anything like that, but I could see the benefit of only having Logic and other music apps on a machine - it's kind of an unconscious way to keep you from checking email, surfing websites, etc, when you really should be working on your music.
