Waterboy
I think that sounds pretty neat. If I may make one suggestion: there is a little too much staccato in the melody. Stretch those notes out (with the main synth sound) a little more (maybe - butt them up against one another), or you could try a little more reverb on that main synth. Just my humble 2¢ Thanks for sharing this with us! Take care.
el-bo
agreed.....reverb or even a nice delay for the main synth line, to make it feel a little less regimented.....of course, you may like the 'march' feel....if so, ignore good 1st attempt....keep on keeping on
erfmufn
Simple but nice.. the sparseness of it makes it sounds 90's in my opinion, but I'm a huge 90's kid so thats a compliment I suppose you could decorate with more layers, reverb etc as suggested.. but then it would sound commercial/contemporary... which is also fine I suppose! Hope you do well for uni.
Draw the Moral
Yes, very downtempo 90's. I like the layers and the chord progressions. I agree that that lead synth should probably be more fluid. Has anyone ever played Silent Hill for playstation? You main chord synth sounds a lot like Silent Hill to me. I like your syncopated bass drum groove. Definitely simple, succinct, and to the point. I think it gets the point across. Good job.
