fred
Hi, I wonder if anybody knows if it´s possible to configure a buss from an external source, for example, to be able to use plug-ins in logic on harware synths sent from the aux buss of my harware mixer to an input of my soundcard? If its possible I will sell my outboards, I just demo:ed the psp 42 Thanks in advance
David Nahmani
Sure, you don't even need to use a Bus or Aux in Logic. Simply create/use an Audio Track with the input set to the desired input on your soundcard (the one your synth is plugged into). You can insert effects here. You can even change them, take them off or tweak them further after you have recorded your synth!
fred
Ok thats cool but It requiers that I record enable that track, and I like to start out with midi or just an sp1200 that I got. I would like to be able to use logic jsut as an effect at that stage, and if i record in to a miditrack the effect would be printed as well since the track is enabled. I know that in protools its possible to choose an input in the effect buss as well as a track wich means the signal just pass through the system as a default. As the enviroment in logic has pretty complex routing possibilities I thought I probably would be possible. Thanks
David Nahmani
In that case you want to insert your plug-in right on the INPUT object. The INPUT object in your environment represent the physical input from your soundcard, where your synth is plugged in. The effect will be heard all the time and recorded whenever you record your synth. To create an INPUT object go to your environment window, create a New>Audio Object, and set its Channel parameter to any of your soundcard's inputs. fred
I tried to do as you suggested and the audio object automaticaly became a track one fader, I then applied the plugin and checked in the mixer window which showed the plugin on track one so it just really the same thing it seems. I don´t use the option of monitoring thru the system so i wont hear the efx anyway i think, thanks
fred
OK, now I get it, I changed the objekt to input then it does exactly what I wanted. I can monitor any type of input thru the system without having it involved in the tracks att all, great. Thanks for your help!!
