Mainstage as standalone VI?

Is it possible to use Mainstage as a synth rack in another DAW?

how would you go about this?

Thanks

Mainstage is a strange create isn't it. I think it was meant to be a stripped down version of Logic for live performance purposes. Rewiring Logic with you 'other' favorite DAW would most likely be your option.

I am using both, but I never tried to record Mainstage into Logic (redundant, eh?)

However, I want to use iMove to record some videos of me in a live setting using Logic and Mainstage. So I need to get the sound out of those two and into iMovie.

iMovie will let me use my interface as an input, but it takes the signal before Logic and mainstage.

The solution is either too easy or impossible. I don't want to go through a process of sending the signal here and then patching it to there, and then feed it to the input of my laptop, etc.

I don't know if using two separate A/M interfaces would do the trick. I guess I will have to play around and see.

I will post anything interesting if something good happens.

I think it might be possible to set up an IAC bus in Audio MIDI Setup so that you can route the MIDI from the DAW into Mainstage. Then you can use something like Soundflower to route to audio back from Mainstage into the DAW. Or maybe you could connect some cables from a pair of outputs on your Audio I/O back to a pair of inputs...

I haven't tried this, but it should work in theory!
