would a dedicated "pro app version" of osx be a go

Recommended Posts

we've had our problems with the os of the day.

would it be a wise move by apple to develop a dedicated os for pro apps only?

no more bugs, conflicts or crashes.

much higher standard for third party development.

no widgets, ical, etc.

driver standardization from/for third parties.

higher integration of logic into the os. (a re-write?)

universal platform - no software/hardware obsolesence.

no bells, no whistles - just a robust, optimized platform.

comments please.........

In the future, perhaps applications like Logic will be their own OS. Apparently the potential exists for the new Intel processors (or their heirs) to run multiple OS simultaneously . . . so it might make sense at some point to let "pro" aps run in their own OS environments (pun intended). Then again, maybe not!

I've thought about that for a while and always liked the idea.

actually this was going to come true about 4 years ago maybe longer. BeOS and Emagic were getting together to produce such an OS for Logic. Then BeOS went bye bye and Apple jumped in.

That would have been totaly cool. BeOS/Logic. You were going to be able to boot directly to Logic.. Oh Well.
