briandelizza
Are you looking for a control surface or an audio interface? or both? The reason I ask is because you mention mic pre's. As far as "mid price range" goes, well I guess that term is relative but I would say if you want to stay under a thousand and get both a control surface and an interface, you can get the Tascam FW-1802 for about 600. For a little more you can go with the M-Audio ProjectMix for about 1250. Or you can step it up to the Digi 002 for about 2000. It all depends on what kind of quality you are looking for, and what software you want to be running.

All 3 pretty much provide the same class in my opinion, except Digi, who have the upper hand in the Post Market with Pro Tools software, So what would you recomend for a home studio that can be compatible in the big rooms, in terms of good quality sound ? I think its way over priced, and at the price it is better just to get a mix+ system and leave the idea of a surface controler behind then. i am not impressed with the digi002, Infact i personally find it annoying that most surface controllers only run vol, pan, mute, balance controls and 8 fader tracks, it would be nice if you can control your dynamics right there for each track or atleast 2 tracks with out taping buttons to get to them, atleast the pres and eqs., anyone know a digital moter mixer like this ? i think it limits a person creativity when they have to work around to programing buttons all day long to use certain software features from a surface.
