ski
As I'm reviewing an orchestration I'm doing in Logic, I decided to change the dynamic markings of a section from forte (f) to fortissimo (ff). Rather than delete the f's and draw in ff's (and then have to graphically adjust them to the right position), I found a simpler way to change my existing symbol in-place. Select the symbol. Then go to the Inspector's symbol parameter and do one of the following: • use mouse-as-slider to adjust the value of the parameter =or= • double-click on the parameter value and type in a new value =or= • click on the parameter and use the key commands for: - increase last clicked parameter by 1 - decrease last clicked parameter by 1 So if I click on an "f", I now have three methods for changing it to "ff" and the placement of the symbol remains the same. This will work if multiple instances of the same symbol are selected too! But what about changing sFz to sFFz? Well, the sFz symbol has a symbol value of 8, but sFFz's value is 14 -- not exactly one increment away. So I made a list of the symbol values for reference. Thought it might come in handy for you scoring types! Logic's Dynamic Symbols and their Values 1 = pp 2 = p 3 = mp 4 = mf 5 = f 6 = ff 7 = fff 8 = sfz 9 = sf 10 = fp 11 = fz 12 =ffff 13 = pppp 14 = sffz 15 = pf 16 = sp 17 = sfp 18= ffz 19 = rf 20 = rfz
stevenson
don't forget, you can use these same meta events to make articulation changes in logic, and in logic 8 they will chase.
