I am currently using minidisk backings for functions where people are dancing and I need to be able to select songs as I see fit. I do not use set lists. I have also started using itunes on a macbook for small non-vocal background music gigs. I am looking into the possibility of a software that can supply backings and guitar effects and piano sounds. Can mainstage and a Macbook (not pro) handle this? On these gigs people don’t dance so I have time to stop and select songs in between. On my band gigs I do not need software synths or effects but would like to have midi program changes sent during songs. I also need to be able to select a required song whilst performing another so that I can start the next song as soon as the first song finishes. I have Logic 7 on a Quad Core MacPro and also on a Macbook. I have not upgraded to Logic 8 yet. This is why I’m asking about Mainstage.
