briandelizza
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/category/c514 I would start looking at some of those for ones in your price range. If you are just going to be using it for playing instruments then you can go with a basic MIDI controller, if you want a little more control over parameters inside logic go for one with more knobs, faders, buttons, etc.. FYI Programming drums via pads is much better (IMO) than using keys. *cough* kontrol 49 *cough**cough*. I personally do not use one but I have used them and they are pretty good for the price (and from what I understand they integrate nicely with Logic.) Personally when sequencing I use a 61 note keyboard, and a sampler that I have configured as a MIDI controller, along with the occasional microKORG (Little keys can be fun sometimes). By learning logic and how to assign MIDI messages to things you can set up your MIDI controller(s) to its/their full potential. (I.e. transport controls, patch changes, key commands, etc...) Oh yea, and if you don't have a MIDI interface you might want to consider a USB controller.
Down Envy
well what I have been doing is using ultrabeat and the stepsequeser to make beats, because on my keyboard, I just cant make cool beats . . ., anyways, Ill check out that web page, thanks . . . Down Envy
also, is it worth getting a mixing board? The one in logic seems fine so I'm not sure
David Nahmani
If you don't need much, this is going to give you the best bang for your buck: http://www.8thstreet.com/images/40612-novation-25le.jpg Don't worry about a mixing board, you won't need one. David Nahmani
Bit overkill in my opinion. You already have a mixer in Logic, so all you need is a control surface. Something like.. an Euphonic System 5 MC maybe? http://www.euphonix.com/music/products/system_5/images/S5CenterAngle432.jpg
