Logic 9 makeovers

Recommended Posts

Just the way Logic 8's GUI design differs from Logic 9. There's not a whole lot different, but in Logic 9 there's extra colours and i don't want them there.

I want Logic 9 to look exactly like Logic 8, but i'm totally new to all this, and wouldn't know where to start.

Hi, I'm new here, and I already found some useful info.

Question regarding the meter tiffs: once they're placed in the right folder, how does Logic know to use them? Should they be given the names of the originals?

As a new MAC and Logic user, it's not a priority for me, but I do like the traditional meters better.

Yes, you either back up the originals and replace them with the modified ones, or you duplicate the Logic Pro app (giving it a new name such as "Logic Pro Custom GUI") and replace the original files with the modified ones there.

All the nice folks doing these customizations already have the files with the correct names, so you don't have to worry about renaming them.

J.

Thanks to all for helping to make an otherwise boring Mixer GUI exciting to now use.

Sorry, I get bored late at night... so here are some meters I made that have the "sweet spot" I like to track in highlighted (between -10 and -20db). Corrected db meter included.

I'm fine with these kind of results from boredom. Thanks lots for the sweet sweet spots!

The resources are in zip files right here on this site done by others, I just picked thru them for this theme.

Sorry I have not checked back here since I posted. If anyone has an issue putting this together, let me know but there are 2 threads here on this site that has everything I did.

Peace

Does anyone else have memory issues with this stuff?

In two different scenarios, I had some glitches and reverted back.

In the first I copied the Logic 8 application folder, and replaced a few graphics with some that seemed relatively popular. At some point I was having serious problems with logic timing out with nothing even running. It was happening with both copies of the application, but for some reason when I deleted the copy everything worked fine. hmmm maybe that doesn't really check out.

The second time I tried my own, editing the originals in photoshop, dropped just meters this time into Logic 9. This time I noticed a few tiny visual glitches. Could have easily been missed, but if you've ever played metroid for 8 hours straight praying your NES wouldn't freeze, these things strike a nerve. Soon after I had a few crashes. This time I'm 90% sure it was the graphics.

I guess the main thing that I'd be wondering about is these graphics tend to be like 10x larger in file-size than the ones already in logic... something to do with the way they export their images for applications. Quantity-wise its just a few dozen bytes, but location allocation-wise I dunno.

Anyway, just passing on my strange experiences for posterity. I didn't really follow up cuz for me.. paranoid.. if I think for a sec that I'm getting audio issues, graphics get the axe.

But as ugly as Logic naturally is... I'm glad its not like Live. After an hour or so on that program my eyes bug out and I switch skins constantly, made my own skins, its nuts.. I think it has something to do with it being flat flat, and my eyes focus like I'm reading a book.
