tykunze
For two rigs, one being for keys and the other for guitar, I want to know if creating an alias would be the way to go? On both rigs, I have a concert with a set for each song... each song has patches set up in verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge.... and so on a lot of the time I'll be using the same patches twice in a song("set") is it necessary for me to create an alias? mmm42
On both rigs, I have a concert with a set for each song...each song has patches set up in verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge.... and so on a lot of the time I'll be using the same patches twice in a song("set") An alias is a reference to the _same_ channel strip (with the exception of the parameters on the "baseplate" - volume, pan, expression), any change you make in that channel strip will be reflected in all aliases. This allows you to use the alias in several way: - as a design feature, because it is actually the same channel strip. - as a feature to save memory, because the channel strip uses a highly memory intensive plugin, which can't be used several times in the concert But aliases also have disadvantages: - it is the same channel strip... - Usually in MainStage you can hold a chord, switch a patch, the chord will still sound the same while the new patch is already active and can be played with the other hand. With aliases this won't work, the volume might change on patch switch, if the volume level is different.
