googleboyboy
I'm a young idiotic producer from Northern Country who's trying to move away from reason (propellerheads softwares) and into the logic domain. No puns intendeds. Can someone please tell me how to automate things in this complex and professional program? I have tried many things but I haven't found the answers. I want to sound like my friends Royksopp but I don't know how to do the filter changes/panning things etc. in logic. I know how in reason but in logic it is no. Please can someone tell me how to automate things like panning/volume/effects etc. PLEASE HELP!
David Nahmani
On each channel strip, right on top of the pan knob, there is a little menu where it says "off" in blue. Click hold and select "touch". Play. Move knobs, faders on the channel strip itself or on a plug-in. Put the automation back to "read", and play the sequencer.
pantomimeHorse
........ then, when you've had some fun seeing just how great THAT all works, you can select "View Track Automation" in the Arrange menu and really have a ball ! ! You get (or can select) a track per automated parameter in Logic, which makes drawing automation curves a doddle and even allows you to thin out your moused-in automation to a smooth transition using a number of different curve profiles. Logic's automation is the jewel in its (extensive) crown, IMHO. 8)
Xenos
...then when that's wowed you, go to the preferences and assign a keyboard shortcut to "View Track Automation" (I use @) then you can toggle easily and constantly between one view and another. A simple point but you're going to end up doing it a lot.
Pete
Is there a way to switch all your track automation to TOUCH or LATCH mode (FOR EVERY CHANNEL) and then back to READ mode at once rather than selecting them channel after channel one by each? Pete
Read the bottom paragraphs in that tip: Routing several tracks at once. NICE! It's working great, ...toggling the V key to see automated volume levels, and working on all of the mix at once in real time! I found a little weirdness working with MIDI region volume control. Sometimes I have to strip out all the volume events in the event list then start from scratch with the faders on my logic control... otherwise new fader values won't record. Does anyone have a tip about how to mix a combination of 8 audio tracks and audio instrument tracks simultaneously so they will fit within the 8 parameter limit on a single "page" or "bank" on my LOGIC CONTROL control surface? Currently I'm toggling between the AUDIO TRACKS and AUDIO INSTRUMENT global views, but i'm wondering if there's a way to have a global view mixing both kinds of tracks. I'd like to have them all on 1 LCD page if possible. thanks, PETE

To mirror tracks as they appear in your ARRANGE window select EXTENDED track view [sHIFT + GLOBAL view buttons on LOGIC CONTROL]
