javamad
Hi, I am looking at a couple of 4 or 8-core Mac Pro's on the second hand market here in Spain. As a system check I can of course look at the system info details on OSX. I am also planning to run some core-heavy tasks to check all the cores work and that the RAM is good. Anything else I should be looking out for? I have never bought second hand computer equipment before... Thanks,
deltonfoster
Hi, I would ask for the original install discs and boot up from that and do the extended hardware test several times. I have bought a couple of used macs for friends and shopped around quite a bit. If someone was not willing to let me take my time and test it completely I would move on. If they act weird when asking for the discs or don't have them I wouldn't buy it. If it is a company rather than an individual selling, try to get some kind of 90 day type warranty. Good luck! ~delton
