David Nahmani
Is it just me? I find it pretty much impossbile to mix my own vocals. Especially to EQ them. It's like, I'm so used to hearing my vocals from inside my head (bone transmission...) that I just can't make them sound right when mixing. At first I thought it was just my voice that sounded horrible, until I heard another engineer mix my vocals!! I have no problem EQing someone else's vocals, but not my own. Anyone here who is a songwriter-producer-engineer who's running into the same challenge? Any 'tips' to avoid that problem?
Parker
It's tough for me as well. I'm always A-B ing with voices that sound similar to mine and getting colleagues to listen to my mixes... I'm sure you do both as well, but know that you're not alone!!
