charmingnerd
Not so much of a Logic question I guess. What is the best way to record a video - say with the built in iSight camera - and capture the sound from logic. Basically, I want to video myself playing my guitar. Jordi Torres
To capture the sound in Logic, you'll need something to route you system's sound output in to Logic: Soundflower or JackOSX. You could also just capture the audio with Audio Hijack Pro (time limited unless you buy it) and then import the audio to Logic. But the simplest way, after you're done recording the video, import it into Logic and then use the Import Audio from Movie command (File menu). J. charmingnerd
Yeah, I tried the soundflower method but there was latency issues. I am going to try again. If I can get it to work right then it would be idea. I just want to hit record / stop and be done with out any editing or extra steps.
Kent Sandvik
You could also try Audio hijack pro but that costs money and you need to sync back the audio via iMovie or something similar.
charmingnerd
I have wiretap, but unless I misunderstand how Audio Hijack works, I don't see how it is helpful. If I wanted to record my guitar and then sync it up to a video, I would just record the audio in Logic and sync it up in iMovie or whatever. I am looking to avoid that process, so soundflower might be the way to go because you can actually select it as a sound source in whatever app you are using. Yes, you need to figure out how to take down the latency in soundFlower.
David Nahmani
charmingnerd, your recent post in the Logic forum has been deleted. Please don't double post: Read Me before posting - Forum Guidelines (#3)
charmingnerd
I double posted? Sorry about that. Didn't mean to. I just thought I forgot to hit submit the first time cause I didn't see it in the Logic forum. I guess I accidentally posted it to another forum. ski
And in that deleted post I suggested that you could record both the audio and video simultaneously in Quicktime. "New Video Recording". That's the easiest method possible. Afterward, open the movie in Logic and import the audio into the Arrange window.
charmingnerd
Ski - I think you misunderstand. I want to record my effected guitar signal into a movie. Recording with Quicktime is just going to record the raw signal of my guitar. I want it after it hits my effects.
ski
I misunderstood? Charming. You, eh, didn't mention anything about wanting to use Logic's effects in your post...
charmingnerd
True, I did not explicitly say that, but I did say "... capture the sound from Logic." Which is obviously different than capturing it from my audio interface. Doing that is a simple matter of selection which input you want.
David Nahmani
If you can't get it to sync then reimport the video into Logic, export its audio to a track, realign them and re-export. I know, it sucks, but I can't think of a better way.
