H.W.
after quantizing from a groove template, how can I apply all the parameters of the template (velocities etc) except the positioning of the notes?
Jordi Torres
Groove templates only deal with timing, nothing else. J.
H.W.
hmm, say you have a midi piano file and you want to use it as a groove template for you own piano track is there a way to use the velocities and other parameters from the midi piano file as a template? David Nahmani
Groove templates only deal with timing, nothing else. Actually groove templates deal with timing, velocity and note length. To apply the velocity/length information from the template selected in the Quantize menu to the region, use the Q-velocity and Q-length parameters in the Advanced Quantization parameters. Even factory groove templates (1/8-Note etc..) have length and velocity data that can be used the same way.
H.W.
thanks, what about other parameters like pitch bend, modulation etc- can those sourced from a groove template or some other way?
David Nahmani
No, groove templates only contain timing, length and velocity. You can copy and paste any other MIDI data, or export it as a MIDI file... what is it exactly you're trying to do? Something is telling me it's not a groove template you're after. A "pitch" groove template wouldn't make much sense.

H.W.
thanks and happy new year- I tend to play my tracks in piece by piece so they often lack the feel of live dynamics- I was experimenting with using midi apple loops and other midi tracks as groove templates, to use their velocities and see if this would liven up the tracks... did not really work out- I know there are those dna groove templates but I'm skeptical how those would be any better then this method I tried- any good ways to accomplish this live feel from templates or other methods?
