Greelmo
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums as well as logic itself. I've been involved in music production for a while, but I just recently made the switch to logic. Anywho, here goes my first question: I'm looking into finding an efficient way to hook my guitar into logic (as well as mics, etc. The more the merrier). I've looked at the M-Audio solution as well as guitar rig, but I'm just wondering what solutions everyone on the forums has found. Thanks in advnace. David Nahmani
What kind of sound? I still believe that for distortion, you can't beat a good amp moving air in front of a microphone.
Greelmo
If I actually hook up a guitar without an amp via, say, firewire, can't i use the guitar over any effect that logic has to offer?
David Nahmani
If you have an audio interface with an instrument input you can plug your guitar directly into it and use Guitar Amp Pro. It sounds pretty damn good too. A good instrument input is better, although you can even use that by plugging your guitar into any kind of input. It depends on the guitar, its pickups, and the sound you want... But yes, it can definitely be done.
Greelmo
thanks for the speedy replies! I was asking about the inputs themselves. Apple sells the M-Audio one, but it says it doesn't bring the guitar in clear... so I'm just asking what solutions are available that come in clear. Thanks again. David Nahmani
I see what you mean.. I finally understand your question! Well, for sure RME Fireface 400 or 800, Metric Halo ULN 2.. but that might be out of your price range. Not sure about lower-price range interfaces. Greelmo
As a follow up question: what time of channel would I use when I get one of these devices, or even when I want to use my internal mic?

David Nahmani
You can only record audio on an Audio Track channel. (you'll notice it is the only one with a 'REC' button on its channel strip)
