How to get my Yamaha YPG-235 working in Logic

I have Logic Pro 8 on my Macbook OS X 10.5.8. When i plug the Yamaha into my laptop via usb, it doesn't show that the device is being detected. I went to preferences in Logic and it doesn't show the Yamaha is available. I downloaded and installed the driver, but I don't know what to do from there. Thanks for the help

Have you checked Audio MIDI Setup? (It's an application, not a menu item.)

Create an external MIDI track. You should see the Yamaha in the list of destinations in the Library. You're not supposed to see anything about the Yamaha in your preferences.

yea i tried to create a new external device but it didn't show that the Yamaha was available.
