Sample Editing in Logic-Can I do this?

What I want to do is take samples I've made in Logic and so I can then map them in EXS or Kontakt.

So for instance I've sampled C3-B3. They were recorded randomly on the arrange pane. All of them are cut to 4 bars in order to have the appropriate release times. But the work of editing the samples has taken a very long time in the arrange pane. Constantly resizing and scrolling just to get the samples to begin and end at the correct place.

I want to get at least 6 octaves to truly get a nice sampled instrument but that would take forever at this rate. Is there a better way to go about this?

The Sample editor (Audio>Sample editor, or double click on an audio region in the Arrange window) is what you're looking for. That's where all the precision cutting, time compression/expansion, etc. tools are.

If you're editing for EXS, you can open the EXS instrument editor and then access the Sample editor as you start building your instrument.

Have a look at the manual for descriptions of these two editors and you'll probably be able to fill in the blanks for your particular needs.

Hope that helps.

Best, Marcel
