Ashermusic
Stero vs. split stereo Aiff vs wav vs sdll pro's? con's? better quality? less cpu strain? conversion rate? ??? None of the above. Aiff=cross platform, no time stamping SD 2= mostly Mac only, time stamping NWF=cross platform, time stamping Split stereo gives you independant control of left and right sides, required by ProTools although if you bring an interleaved stereo file into PT it will automatically convert it to split stereo while retaining the appearance of an interleaved file and allowing you to edit it as such. Most of us Logic users use interleaved files nowadays.
lwilliam
PT can be set to use wav, sdii (split), or aif natively when you start a new session. They did this especially for wavs, so PT sessions would be cross-platform compatible with the PC version. However, Digital Performer still uses sdii natively. ...and they all do sound just the same. I can't think of a reason you'd want to use a split file...broadcast wav files are cross-platform, which gives them a bit of an advantage if that's of any concern.
