bigdaverotheroe
Hi guys, I've been puzzling over the GM tracks on logic since I got it a few months ago. I've had a fiddle round just to see if I could get them going for a while but I get signal in and apparently signal out but no sound, no GM. Am I being stupid? David Nahmani
They're intended to control an external hardware GM MIDI sound module or synth. If you don't have one connected, you won't get any sound.
alexstone
And if you want a straight Sf2 player that does what it says without bells and whistles, try SimpleSynth (built by a clever chap called Pete Yandell). It shows the inputs available, but for your use, and most importantly of all it has an option entitled 'Simple Synth Virtual Input.' Open it before Logic, select SSVI as the input, and it will automatically appear in logic as a playback option. I found it invaluable on many occasions.
