One note: If you have a very large hosts file with lots of entries (100-200+) then this pref pane editor can take a very long time to initially load the entire hosts file the first time around. .. but with a typical sized hosts file it is pretty quick to start. Btw... looking at what was changed/updated in 9.1.8.. it seems they changed some stuff in the MobileMe Framework (The one that handles checking with the App Store and other such phone home stuff...) so it looks like we were on the right path as to the cause... just couldn't fix it ourselves!
