dnito
I found my old install disc for logic 7.2. However, when i try to install Logic from it I get the following error message: "you can't open the application LogicPro.mpkg because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I thought Logic 7.2 was intel ready?
n6smith
The catch with 7.2 is that it's installer has some PPC code in it so you cannot install it.. but you can run it once it is installed.. I assume this was for people who upgraded their OS after already installing 7.2 on their computers.. Anyhow, this is why i suggested you use the external OS drive method because then you can run your required OS from there. It's also worth noting that you do have to do a bit of a work around to get 7.2 to work in Lion once you have got around how to actually install 7.2.. so it is probably easier (and more reliable) to run 7.2 on an external SL OS startup disk or thumb drive. dnito
Thanks Nigel. I'm installing SL on an external right now. Do I just then install logic 7 in the applications folder of SL on the external? Thanks again! D.
n6smith
Yes... I do this for testing purposes with new plugins with older OS and Logic versions when clients report problems and it works just fine. If you are using an Ext HD if it is not a FW800 7200RPM.. it will likely be not as fast as you are used to.. but for the purpose of getting your older projects over to L9 you should be okay...
