fbkaiser
This is something that happens too many times to ignore. The 1st midi note of a piece, and only the 1st note is louder than any other note in the track.. And it seems to be on only one of the tracks if it's multi midi tracks. Anyone else seen this? tia Kaiser

If you played the notes from a MIDI keyboard or entered them yourself in any other way, select and delete the note that is too loud to see if there is a duplicate note underneath it. If it is a Loop then maybe this will help. Huge Volume jump on Loop's First Beat [sOLVED]
fbkaiser
Hi, Scott--- No, there is only one midi note---that's the 1st thing I looked at. And yes, this is an original region. Any other possibilties? ty Kaiser
David Nahmani
Is the project sart on 1 1 1 1? Is the note on 1 1 1 1? What if you insert some silence at the top of your project? I know it's only a workaround, but it seems to fix a lot of the issues that occur on 1 1 1 1. - Set your locators between 1 1 1 1 and 2 1 1 1. - Choose Edit > Cut / Insert Time > Insert Silence between Locators. Audiogrocery
Another known scenario can be some Compressor/Expander in the project which can cause that - i.e boosting the start of the audio (first note or what else).
ski
Or, before you insert silence (which is a good idea -- best to start Logic projects on Bar 2), set your playhead manually to a point before 1 1 1 1 (like 0 2 1 1) and hit play (cycle off). Judge the volume. Then, set the playhead to 1 1 1 1 and hit play. If the volume is higher then you're likely running into some kind of strange glitch (although there could be other causes). The easiest solution then might be to insert silence just as David suggested and, in the future, start all of your Logic projects at bar 2 1 1 1. I know, it's lame, but effective! rida2
Checklist: 1. Is your midi keyboard receiving a program change or sysex at 1.1.1.1 2. There is an option setting a count-in pre-playback, so that the sequencer starts before 1.1.1.1 - it gives a little prep time for all events and tracks, volume change, etc. 3. Some keyboards might loop if local not turned off. 4. Do you record in cycle mode with the last note on the down beat after the cycle- effectively doubling the first beat. Check your event list if you've doubled up your first note.
fbkaiser
Ty to all who helped. The gist is "get it off of 1". Got it Kaiser
