HMayoral
So yeah, I have this audio track of a video I imported, and I can't move it, or edit or anyhting because it is locked. How can I unlock it. Thanks you!
HMayoral
Op never mind just found out. Simply right click on the region of the audio track that you wish to unlock, go down to the little option "SMPTE Lock" and there you can choose how to lock it, or unlock. iamdaveb
For newer versions: This thread is a bit old. I just had the problem with the latest Logic. A track I imported was locked and I couldn't move it. The current manual said to click the lock to unlock it. That didn't work. So I copied the file and pasted it. The pasted version wasn't locked and I could move it. So I just deleted the locked file. Workaround but it solved the issue.
AirtightGarage
Thanks for the update, the cut and paste trick worked for me too. Never did see an SMPTE unlock option in the right click menu.
10pa
Guys, now the 'Unlock SMPTE position' is at the top of the Main window, in menu 'Function' (next to 'Edit' and 'View').
mrdjmedina
If you don't see the option to 'Unlock STPTE' when you right click. Go to Preferences>Advance Tools and turn on Advance Editing.
vivemikkoh
I currently use version 10.4.7 and the workaround with this issue is - Option Double Click Audio Region that's "locked" - Click audio file tab - Click "Update File Information" - Click "Refresh Overview(s)" Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
gwhizofto
Update Logic 2022 10.7.3, Select the region to unlock by clicking on it. Find the Functions pulldown menu just above the Global Tracks and list of Tracks. Select 'Unlock SMPTE position'
Zipfunk
These two keystrokes don't work. I believe because COMMAND selects the right click. Am I missing something? Or do i have to make a new keystroke for it? Drew
David Nahmani
I believe because COMMAND selects the right click. No, Command-click does not affect key commands. However Command-arrows is normally used for zooming incrementally. Try to assign the functions to another keyboard shortcut?

Am I missing something? Or do i have to make a new keystroke for it? Drew The menu shows command-up/down arrow, but it is really command-page up/down. You can find it still in the right click menu under edit>smpte>lock/unlock You can also set a key command to toggle instead of two commands for on/off. You can also enable a button in the oversized toolbar.

mmorichad
I have Logic Pro 10.7.4. I’m trying to unlock an audio track I pulled from an MP4, but the “Unlock SMPTE” is no where to be found. Please advise.

It should be in your local "Functions" menu in the Tracks view. Or if you control-click the track, in the pop-up menu, choose Edit > SMPTE Lock > ... If you cannot see these options then choose Logic Pro > Preferences > Advanced... and make sure you select "Enable Complete Features", then try again. Solution David Nahmani Posted January 18 Solution Share Posted January 18 Here's an updated answer: To unlock SMPTE of your movie soundtrack (or any locked audio region), choose Functions > Unlock SMPTE Position (or press fn + Command + ↑).
