Devon8822
I seem to be getting latency with superior drummer in logic, I just also tested some of logics drum kits, and I am having the same problem. They seem to be totally fine when I play them (with the caps lock keyboard), but when I record and play they get all jittery and dont play when I press them both in playback and on the grid. My latency is set as per usual at 128, and I tried switching it around to no avail. Any ideas? What else could it be?
django
Hi there, have you got any plug-ins on the superior drummer channel? Plug-ins on the channel, make my virus Ti latency HUGE.
Devon8822
no plugins, just the virtual instrument. Any other ideas anyone?
David Nahmani
The first thing to try is the low latency mode: Does it reduce the latency when on? This helps determining where the latency comes from. For example it could be some plug-ins on an Aux or on the Stereo Output.
Devon8822
Hey Dave, I have tried it with low latency mode on, but I am still getting the same latency. Any other possibilities?
David Nahmani
Next would be your i/o buffer size - try lowering it (under Preferences > Audio).
Devon8822
going from 128 down to 64, seems to help a bit, but than I get crackles and pops.

What happens if you try in an empty project with a single software instrument track with an EXS24?
Devon8822
Just tried that, I am still getting the latency when recording or just playing while the track is playing. However, it is fine when I am playing while the track is not playing.
David Nahmani
So EXS24 being the ONLY plug-in in your entire Mixer, correct? Absolutely no other plug-ins? What happens if you set your i/o devices to Built-in line and built-in speaker under Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio?
Devon8822
Correct, EXS24 being the only plugin. Just tried that, doesn't seem to change anything . I have also tried turn off every other program but Logic, still no difference.
David Nahmani
Well that's definitely not normal. If you can disconnect all your peripherals and can reproduce the issue with only Logic, the built-in Mac speaker and the caps lock keyboard, then I'd take the whole machine to an Apple Store and show them. I can't help but think it must be something else, but apparently you've exhausted all possibilities.
Devon8822
I just hooked up my midi keyboard and it seems to be working well. Maybe its just the action of my computer keyboard, ughh that makes no sense because it seems to work fine when its not recording.

You're right, that doesn't seem to make sense. However I'm certainly glad to hear that it works fine with your MIDI controller. Still something's smelling funny here. Argh.
