Electro_Jason
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on for a while, I've been so busy! Anyway straight to the point. When I open an audio tract to record some vocals when I click record I get this high pitched ringing. (Just sounds like feedback) And I have no idea why, I tried changing the input and looking online but I couldn't find anything. Again any help would be greatly appreciated . thedivisionbell
Try reducing the monitoring level to zero(or switching off your mic if it has a switch) and see if the ringing stops. If it does, then it's most probably feedback.
Electro_Jason
It's actually okay now, I just can't record without plugging in headphones. Also related to the issue, I don't have a mic so when I record you can hear the air in the background even if the room is silent, is this because the built in mic is rubbish? Also when the voice hits a certain volume it tends to ring, would a compressor fix this? Thanks.
triplets
You hear the background because the gain on the mic is cranked and the room is probably big and not an acoustically treated vocal booth. And using the built-in mic with the iMac speakers will automatically create feedback. If you want better quality you should consider getting an audio interface and a condenser mic. David Nahmani
Start saving some money! You won't find anything even halfway decent in that price range.
Electro_Jason
Haha that is a shame, looks like it might be a bit longer before I can add decent vocals to my songs then
